What a week for the Yankees

Posted on: July 31, 2008 2:35 am
While most people are talking about the Yankees' acquisitions, I am ecstatic over the subtraction of Kyle Farnsworth and LaTroy Hawkins from the roster. These two were absolutely dreadful and regardless of who they plug into the eighth inning role, I'm sure that person can do a better job than these two. How many times could you watch Farnsworth start an inning off by allowing the first batter to reach or watch him give up the tying homer? Farnsworth only pitches well when there is no pressure. As for Hawkins, his uniform number fiasco doomed him from the start. He's just a terrible pitcher who also doesn't handle pressure well.

What a week for the Yankees

Michael Kay on ESPN radio here in NY made a good point. Farnsworth will never be as valuable as trade bait as he is right now. There you have it. Good move by the Yanks to get rid of Kyle. Not too sure about Pudge though. Peter Gammons has also said that he is a problem in the clubhouse. Doesn't like to go to meetings and does his own thing. Not sure how that will work with Joba or Kennedy if he comes back up. Not so worried about Pettitte or Mussina. They've been around the block.

Two good trades for the Yanks. One more to go. Need a starter.
